Karate World Championships

Yuvhan Govinder was selected to participate in the 9th JSKA World Championships.

Yuvhan said that it was a wonderful experience to be a part of such an amazing event. Yuvhan worked extremely hard and was under a great deal of pressure leading to this event. Once arriving in Russia, the team had to acclimatize to the extreme weather conditions and commence with training sessions that started as early as 7am. The tournament itself which took place on Saturday 29th September, which was held on the same premises and arena’s surrounding one of the official stadiums which hosted the World cup. Yuvhan had the privilege of being the official flag bearer. He had nerves of steal leading to his event, as he was up against some of the toughest countries, renowned for dominating at sporting events. He made us and his country very proud by achieving a Silver Medal in his category for Kumite. He is so happy for his achievement. This experience has showed him that his hard work and determination has paid off. Due to his performance at this event, he has also gained automatic selection for the next JSKA World Championship to be held in Germany 2020. Congratulations Yuvhan!!!
