GRADE 8 CAMP by Bill Martins Tambe
Camp Discovery was one of the best camps I have ever gone to. I really enjoyed the different activities, the food and the swimming pool. We met new friends and we got to know our teachers better. Thank you to all who were involved in making the camp a huge success!
Here’s what a few other Grade 8’s had to say about the camp:
“It was tiring, tough, ruthless and fun” – Mbuso 8A
“We learnt a lot – like respect” – Emmanuel 8A
“We got to know our Grade 8 class” – Aaron 8A
“It was my first time to go to camp” – Shaun 8A
“I learnt to be independent” – Lelethu 8B

A group of Grade 8 and 9 learners accompanied their teachers, Mr Ayar and Mr Khangelani, on a paintball excursion. According to Makabongwe the experience was “Awesome with brutality and pain”, while Habeeb liked the fact that “It showed us how soldiers live in war.” Others were more focused on the social aspect: “It was a nice time to bond with my friends,” wrote Lesedi. Thato seemed to agree writing, “We enjoyed ourselves with our teachers”. Mfundo’s description of the outing as “Extreme fun” was supported by Phologo who enjoyed “Shooting his opponents with style”. And while “painful” was all Khomo had to say about the outing, Lehumo felt shooting others and being shot yourself is “All a part of the game”. Perhaps Lebogang summed the day up best when he wrote: “Paintballing was a good time for everyone to take a break from all the work, but we got REALLY dirty!”
The Grade 9B went to play paintball at Proball Paintball. There were six students and two teachers. It was Amir, Peter, Max and Mr Nurulan against Logan, Joel, Ndiwe and Mr Celik.
We arrived at Proball at about 13:30. We wore overalls that were colour-coded for our teams. Mr Celik’s team wore camo and Mr Nurulan’s team wore brown.
